Four steps, and you can stop after the second.
Scoping is where most of the thinking happens, and it is where the fixed price comes from. You are free to walk away at the end of it and keep the document. It is yours either way.
You tell us what the problem is
In your own words. No specification document, no form to fill in, and no charge for the conversation. If it is a website, tell us what the business does and who you want to reach; if it is software, tell us what is currently being done by hand.
We scope it and quote one fixed price
Written down, with a completion date attached. Scoping separates what you need from what you would like — the quote covers the first, and you can decide about the second later. Nothing changes after that without your say-so.
We build it, and you watch it happen
Backups from the first day, and a working version you can log into early rather than a reveal at the end. If something looks wrong while it is being built, that is the cheapest possible moment to say so.
Handover, then thirty days of free fixes
The code, the data and plain documentation. If something we built does not work as agreed, we fix it free for the first thirty days after handover. That is a warranty rather than a support plan, and it applies whether or not you take anything else from us.
The three decisions behind all of it
Everything above follows from these, so they are worth saying out loud rather than leaving you to infer them.
Why the code is yours
Handing over the code and the data removes the main risk of bringing in an outside supplier. If we walked away tomorrow you would still have a working system, and somebody else could pick it up.
Why the price is fixed
A small business cannot sign an open-ended bill. Agreeing the number in writing before the work starts puts the estimating risk where it belongs, which is with us.
Why we build in the open
We ship our own products and most of them are free and open source, so you can look at what we have actually built rather than take our word for it.
Why there is no sales process
You get the quote and you decide. We will not chase you, call you or send a sequence of emails to move you along. If the answer is no, that is a complete answer.
What AI does, and what it does not
THE MACHINE
- ✓ The repetitive parts: the same shapes, the same plumbing, the same forms, written in minutes instead of weeks.
- ✓ The unglamorous safety work — tests, error handling, accessibility — which costs us almost nothing and so is never cut.
- ✓ The first draft of almost everything, which is then read line by line.
THE PERSON
- ✓ Deciding what to build, what to leave out, and what should happen when it goes wrong.
- ✓ Reading every line that ships, because somebody has to answer for it and a machine cannot.
- ✓ Answering you. There is no ticket queue and no different person each time.
Start at step one.
Tell us what the problem is. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
